Hedgehog smiles

Hedgehogs are really special animals.
Their bodies are full of spines, yet their faces look so docile.
Their movements and their looks are so cute, such adorable creatures!

This is the first time I tried to make a smiling hedgehog.
I'm really in love with this little guy.

Harvest season for squirrels

It's September! Autumn is coming, I love the colors of the fall season.
Autumn always reminds me of woodland animals and pine cones.
So I started to make some needle felted squirrels lately.

Squirrels always look so cute with acorns or mushrooms or pine cones around.

Needle felted squirrel ornaments are now available in www.nozomicrafts.etsy.com

Miniature English cottage making beginner . Petite Properties cottage

This is my first challenge of making mini English cottage.
I always fancy about thatched English cottages, they look so cute and magical. The first time for me to visit them was about 20 years ago in Stratford Upon Avon, home of Shakespeare. I know I never will have a chance to own one, but owning a mini version of it is possible.

The kit I used is from Petite Properties Ltd.
It consists of ready cut wooden parts which seems quite easy to assemble, and it has an instruction sheet. I live in Hong Kong all of my life and English is a foreign language to me, but the instruction sheet is nicely written and easy to read so I have no difficulty in understanding it.

Assembling the parts is not a problem for me. Painting and creating texture is challenging. I had no experience in making this kind of house models so I did study and made a lot of research on this topic.

The paint I used is also bought from Petite Properties Ltd.

The most challenging part for me is making the roof. I worked according to the book from Petite Properties.
I had never done this before and cannot anticipate what results I can get.

Wrap clay on the roof, paint it with glue, sprinkle tiny fibers on top, then paint the whole roof.

The effect is not bad at all, it is better than I expected. I am satisfied with it.

Party animals in my miniature Japanese cottage village

My husband bought a set of mini cat and dog figurines for me and I immediately thought of putting them to my mini Japanese village.

The cats and dogs match with the cottages impeccably. The size, the atmosphere, everything suits so magically into the cottages. It looks like they are made to be a set, but it is all an coincidence.
The animals really seem to have fun in my village

The making of my miniature Japanese thatched roof cottage

My latest addiction : miniature houses creation
I started this hobby last year when I came across a mini garden shed kit.
Since then I want more and want to challenge something more difficult.
I choose to work on cottages, I'm really crazy about cottages, both European and Japanese ones.

Apart from making the cottage, the thing I enjoyed a lot is designing and creating the cottage garden. This one is a spring time garden.

These are the materials inside the kit (without the glues)
